Hire a Comedian for a High School Event Today

Searching for high school graduation party ideas—ones that keep the kids out of trouble? Or perhaps you want high school reunion ideas that bring everyone back to the good times of their youth? Hiring a high school comedian is sure to make your event unforgettable. Why? We remember things that make us laugh—humor provokes a positive emotional reaction. When we hear something funny, we’re eager to repeat it and relive the moment.

With our wide roster of comedians, we can easily tailor the humor to your group. Simply tell us what type of humor you’re looking for—from edgy to family-friendly—along with your budget, and we’ll find the right comedian for you.

Besides the laughs, hiring a comedian for your event can support other goals. Looking for a PTO fundraising idea? Hire a comedian. Bake sales are fun, but the idea is stale. As humans, we’re hardwired to seek new experiences. In fact, according to neuropsychology, our brains release the “pleasure hormone” (dopamine) when we have new and exciting experiences. For many, attending a comedy show could be that new and exciting experience.

From eighteen-year-old seniors celebrating graduation to seniors celebrating a fifty-year reunion, The Comedian Company has someone for every taste and age group.

    Clean Comedians

Celebrity Comedians from TV & Movies

Looking to make your event extra special for your community members? Hire one of our celebrity comedians.

If you want the energy mellow and the humor akin to “dad jokes,” you couldn’t do better than award-winning Jim Gaffigan. Famous for his riffs on Hot Pockets and other foods, Gaffigan has been entertaining audiences for over two decades. Sometimes Gaffigan is referred to as “the king of clean” for his observational, often self-deprecating humor. Unsure of the brand of comedy you’re after? Gaffigan is the Lego of comedy: he can be enjoyed by all ages.

Want someone darker who appeals to an adolescent audience? We couldn’t recommend SNL’s Pete Davidson more. Davidson’s unflinching honesty and laid-back charm have made him a pop-culture icon since he debuted on SNL back in 2014. If it’s edge with heart you’re looking for, Davidson fits the bill.

Maybe you want a comedian for a slightly older audience. Paul Reiser is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Perhaps best known for his starring role on Mad About You or, more recently, Stranger Things, Reiser’s warmth and wit—often poking fun at the everyday trials and tribulations—has been charming audiences for over three decades. If you like your comedy deadpan and relatable, Reiser is the man for the job.

Regardless of the tone or style, if you want your community members to laugh, The Comedian Company has a jokester for you.

      Comedians for High School Events

High schoolers can be a tough audience to reach. With raging hormones, a frequent desire to challenge authority, and the need to impress, some even revel in antagonizing adults. But a good comedian is adept at winning over a challenging audience. They often have to deal with inebriated crowds—notoriously one of the hardest groups to perform in front of, let alone win over.

If your PTO committee is looking for ideas on how to engage high school students, hire a comedian. Why? It’s simple: high schoolers can relate to pain. Adolescence is rife with confusion, a specific kind of pain. The pain of learning who you are.

Fortunately, much of comedy, at its core, is about pain. Comedians take this pain and turn it inside out. Making fun of yourself—through self-deprecating jokes—is a way of taking the pain of our insecurities and making light of it. There are also the small, everyday pains—the pains of normal existence, such as the minor, banal flaws that eat away at us: flying, going to a doctor, or navigating interpersonal relationships. Comedy, or humor, can make pain relatable, but it can also cut through it.

Former Superman actor Christopher Reeve was famously paralyzed after being thrown from a horse. While recuperating in the hospital, unbeknownst to Reeve, Robin Williams—posing as a doctor—goofed around with him, with Reeve initially failing to realize it was his friend. For Reeve, it was the first time he had laughed since his accident.

Even in our bleakest times, we want to laugh, whether we realize it or not. Laughter engages us and distracts us from our pain, both mental and physical. The short version: high schoolers, in particular, need a good laugh.
