Annual & General Conferences
Every year, or several times a year in the case of general conferences, various associations and groups get together to cultivate professional growth, share knowledge, and network. They also get together to have fun.
When these ventures take a religious bent, they’re referred to as a “growing season,” wherein spiritual workshops take place built around renewal, harvest, and discipleship growth.
In the corporate world, they have their own “growing” season, but the crops can “grow” many times throughout the year. And the fruits of their labor can be harvested just as often.
As mentioned, these annual and general conferences are far from somber affairs. They often feature keynote speakers and entertainers. As much as there’s workshops, discussions, and meetings, there’s also a strong call for entertainment.
And at The Comedian Company, we’re happy to answer the call, from Salt Lake to Seattle—we can bring the funny to you.
Getting into all of the general conferences and annual ones would be far beyond the scope of this page, but we can give you a taste of the conference world.
Now, let’s touch upon some more season-specific and conference-specific occasions that could use the comedic touch.
Winter Conferences
There’s a gaggle of annual winter conferences: there’s the Aspen Center for Physics for the STEM-minded; the ABA Winter Institute—which brings together nearly a thousand independent booksellers every February in Minneapolis. Then there’s medical conferences like the RSNA Annual Meeting, taking place in late November to December and assembles 50,000 radiology professionals. There’s also the Rocky Mountain Winter Conference for emergency medicine workers.
This is but a sampling of the many winter conferences that are held each year. And what they all have in common (besides ambition and professionalism) is an appreciation for a bit of levity here and there. Here at The Comedian Company, we’re happy to provide such entertainment with one of our many top-notch comedians.

Art & Design Conferences
Just as there are many winter conferences held throughout the U.S., design conferences are just as plentiful.
South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual conference held in Austin every March. While SXSW hosts multiple conferences in multiple industries, including film and music, there is also a designer component.
Other design conferences include CreativePro Week, which is held in Phoenix in June and July. Then there’s the AIGA Design Conference, which rotates when and where it’s held annually. There is also TypeCon, thrown in Chicago and hosted by the Society of Typographic Aficionados (yes, there’s enough to form a society).
Again, as much as these design conferences and symposiums have serious discussions at hand, they still need opportunities to unwind with a laugh or two. After all, all work and no play makes jack a you-know-what.
